What drives you to your knees in prayer the first thing in the morning? I heard a man say once, "If what you are doing right now isn't working, have another thought." That statement is, funny first of all, and second, potentially excruciatingly true for many. I know it is for me. When I wake up in the morning, I don't even know what a thought is, much less how to have another one. Another one of what?

I heard a second man say once, "It's best to push your shoes way under the bed every night so that you have to get way down on your knees every morning to find them. And while you are down there thank God for grace, mercy, and understanding." What a statement! Practically speaking, I don't necessarily put my shoes on first thing in the morning, but I understand what he was getting at. The point to take notice of in combining these two statements is not to wait till morning to figure it out. If I wait till morning, chances are I've already missed it. If I've already missed it, it's probably best to push the shoes under the bed. I won't be needing those shoes until He has my heart, nor will I really be filling them.
