"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height — to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:14-21 (NKJV)
In Ephesians 3:14-21, Paul gives us a picture of deep prayer. In verse 19 we read, "to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge." The word used for "know" here is the same word used in the original language as the intimate closeness of a husband and wife.
One of our main Discipleship Tags we encourage churches and families to use to disciple preteens is PnC. This stands for Pray and Confess - to pray and confess the word of God. It is essential that we spend constant time in private and corporate prayer with the Father. It is especially in the secret place of prayer where the Father can reveal His jealous love for us to the depths of our heart. A love that, "passes knowledge." A love that is greater than the intimate closeness of husband and wife. Be sure that this Discipleship Tag is not dismissed and glossed over. When we combine the RnR (Reading and Rewriting) of Scripture and the MnM (Memorization and Meditation) of Scripture and then PnC (Pray and Confess) it back to the Father in the secret place of prayer, there exists no greater intimacy for our heart and the Father's heart to beat as one. It is the very place where our hearts may be refined by His eternal flame of love.
